Latest Liverpool Transfer Roundup: Man Utd sent reps to Brazil for talks but FSG did NOT
In the latest Liverpool transfer roundup, the Reds have not sent representatives to Brazil for transfer talks while Manchester United have.
The January transfer window is now 49 days away and so Premier League clubs are nearing decisive moments in their preparations for potential transfers.
Liverpool are in need of a defensive midfielder and a left-sided centre-back and could make further signings to boost Liverpool 2.0's development.
So far, the four midfielders the club signed in the summer have succeeded to varying degrees with Dominik Szoboszlai performing excellently so far.
But what's the latest Liverpool transfer update?
Liverpool scout report on Goncalo Inacio did not go to plan
On Sunday evening, Liverpool reportedly had scouts at the Estádio da Luz to watch Sporting Lisbon take on Benfica with 22-year-old Goncalo Inacio in the spotlight.
Ultimately, it was an important game in the Liga Portugal as Benfica's 2-1 win allowed them to draw level in the title race.
Inacio was sent off in the 51st minute after receiving his second yellow card of the game.
The Portugal international is under consideration to replace Joel Matip ahead of his contract expiry at the end of the season.
It may or may not have an effect on Liverpool's desire to trigger his €60 million (£52m) release clause.

Manchester United have sent delegates to Brazil to discuss a transfer for Andre
Brazilian journalist Emmanuel Luiz confirmed reports that United have made direct contact with Fluminense as the Premier League battle for Andre intensifies again.
"The most important thing right now is André wants Liverpool but Fulham, my friend Bruno Andrade here in Brazil was saying and I’ve confirmed with the club that André will play for the club that makes the best offer to Fluminense," Luiz told Redmen TV.
Luiz continued :“He wants Liverpool and Liverpool wants to pay like €30million.
“So Liverpool just need to improve the offer a little bit. I think it would be stupid if Liverpool didn’t because Fluminense waited, they are going to do what Andre wants to do.
“Now, Manchester United have also sent a guy to Fluminense and they are now interested and could bid.”
Liverpool are in obvious need of a defensive midfielder although credit must go Jurgen Klopp's way for how he has dealt with the lack of a top defensive midfielder this season.

Pep Guardiola says he would sell to Liverpool but it's not likely to be Kavlin Phillips
The Man City manager told the press that he would sell players to the likes of Liverpool as he has done with Chelsea and Arsenal in the last couple summer transfer windows.
He said: “If they want to go to Chelsea or [Manchester] United or, I don’t know, Liverpool, whatever, what is the problem? They are happy to be there and the club is happy with the transfer.
“The other club is happy with the amount of money they spend, so it is fine. Another player will come to us and we keep going in a good spirit and a good mood.”
It's not likely to be Kalvin Phillips, though. Newcastle United are said to be the most seriously interested as they search for a replacement for Sandro Tonali after his ban from football.

Bayer Leverkusen managing director of sport Simon Rolfes said last week that nobody at the Bundesliga club has not received any approaches.
“No, no one has approached us, and no one needs that,” he said.

Fabrizio Romano puts an end to claims Liverpool sent representatives to Brazil
The Italian journalist has rubbished claims that Liverpool sent reps to Brazil to discuss a £20 million transfer.
Speaking to Caught Offside, he said: "Lucas Beraldo – There has been talk of Liverpool being interested in signing Brazilian youngster Lucas Beraldo from Sao Paulo.
"However, I’m not hearing anything – not aware of that or of any negotiations for him at this stage.
“Liverpool are always linked with many players but there’s nothing concrete so far. He’s very good player, a talented young centre-back.
"I like him, but I think he probably needs one more step before joining a super top club like Liverpool.”
