Fourth club joins race to sign player that "wants Liverpool" transfer in January

Liverpool's pursuit of Fluminense midfielder Andre - which may or may not be ongoing - has become more complicated with Italian giants Juventus reportedly joining the battle for the Brazilian's signature.

Reports emerged this week downplaying the Reds' interest in the 22-year-old.

Then a reporter from Brazil, Emmanuel Luiz, spoke to the Redmen TV stating that Andre "wants Liverpool" but confirmed that Fulham have submitted the strongest financial offer.

Jurgen Klopp can still sign him but it will require the club to offer around "£35m for him and a 20% [sell-on] clause" to beat Fulham to the punch.

Arsenal are also interested but have yet to make a concrete move since the Gunners' sporting director Edu Gaspar visited Fluminense, among other Brazilian clubs.

Now, a report from 90Min, detailing the latest transfer plans at Juventus, claims that the Italian side scouted Andre during his side's triumphant Copa Libertadores campaign.

They note that Flu are expected to sell the 22-year-old this winter.

It remains to be seen what Liverpool's involvement will be when the January transfer window opens

Before this week, it was widely reported that Liverpool are in the race to sign Andre before This is Anfield reported that the club is "baffled" by continued links.

Only time will tell what Liverpool's involvement will be in the race to sign the talented midfielder

Whatever happens, we cannot be distracted from the fact that Liverpool need to sign a new defensive midfielde.

If one isn't signed, then allowing Fabinho to leave to the Saudi Pro League will be yet another negligent transfer decision from the Anfield outfit.

They're often lauded for their smart and patient moves in the market and while I don't want to see Liverpool become like Chelsea, who splash cash recklessly, more urgency is needed at crucial times like this.

Liverpool are struggling to maintain stability in matches without a specialist defensive midfielder and if Andre is not to be the player signing with the club in January, FSG and Klopp need to ensure it's because they've moved onto a better, more suitable target.
