Liverpool now moving to renew £192k/week gem's contract amid interest from Real Madrid

Liverpool are reportedly looking to extend Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract as Real Madrid continue to monitor the situation of the star right-back.

The England international has been instrumental for the Reds since breaking into the first team from their academy and his contract is nearing its final year.

This has triggered speculation about his future, especially with interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have not only shown interest in Alexander-Arnold, but they are actively following his situation at Liverpool.

In his latest Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside, Romano commented on Real Madrid's pursuit of Alexander-Arnold, revealing that the Spanish club is keeping a close eye on the Liverpool star.

He said, "I’m afraid I have no update in this moment – as I said weeks ago, Real Madrid are following the situation but nothing else in terms of talks or contact so far."

Alexander-Arnold has been a key figure in their success over the last few years, contributing immensely to their Premier League title win in 2020 and their Champions League triumph in 2019.

His ability to deliver pinpoint crosses and create chances from the right-back position makes him a unique talent.

With Real Madrid's reputation for signing top players, especially those with unique skill sets, it's no surprise that they would be interested in acquiring Alexander-Arnold.

But Liverpool are aware of the risks of losing such a crucial player and are looking to secure his future with a contract extension.

Liverpool want to extend Trent's contract

As Liverpool transition into a new era, maintaining key players like Alexander-Arnold is crucial.

Trent's £192,000 per week contract expires in 2025 but David Ornstein says that - along with Salah and van Dijk - the fullback is in line for contract renewal talks with FSG.

Liverpool will do everything they can to hold onto Trent but for the time being, there is no reason to suggest that he has plans of leaving Anfield any time soon.

He is an ambitious player and heading into his prime, it's important Liverpool continue to challenge for top honours if they are to hold onto him for the long term.

That's the massive task awaiting Arne Slot.
