Liverpool "baffled" by continued links to Andre - January transfer NOT being planned

Liverpool are NOT planning a move to sign Andre Trindade in the January transfer window, with sources close to This is Anfield claiming the club is "baffled" by the continued links.

The Brazilian won the Copa Liberatadores with Fluminense on Sunday and while many at the time considered it one of the 22-year-old's most important auditions ahead of an Anfield switch, that appears not to be the case.

TIA's report follows a claim from UOL on Tuesday which suggest Fulham is the "strongest candidate" to sign Andre.

Reportedly, despite a willingness to "strike a deal in January" at Fluminense, Liverpool will not be rejoining the race for his signature despite reports of a "gentleman's agreement" over a move to Anfield.

If true, Liverpool walking away from signing Andre is a major blow if there are no plans to pursue a different target.

Jurgen Klopp's side is reportedly showing "serious interest" in RB Salzburg midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath to fill the defensive midfield role vacated by Fabinho in the summer.

Liverpool did sign four midfielders in the summer but despite calls to start Wataru Endo in the no.6 role, Alexis Mac Allister continues to be shoehorned into the role in Premier League fixtures.
