Exclusive: John Barnes on 2023/24 positives and Jurgen Klopp's greatest Liverpool achievement

I was lucky enough to ask one of the greatest Liverpool players of all time a few questions this week.

Although it was only a few questions, it was a privilege to have the chance to speak to John Barnes, thanks to Bonus Code Bets.

While John left Liverpool the year I was born, he was one of the players I tried to model my (less than professional) style of play on when I was a kid!

Perhaps we'll have to chat to John again some time soon so he can tell me about everything I missed out on during his time at Anfield.

Onto the questions!

What is the main positive that Liverpool fans should take out of the 2023/24 season?

When asked about which positives to focus on despite the disappointing end to the season, John said: "Until the last three weeks we were in a title race.

"When you look at the team we have, the amount of injuries, the age of the players we have done very well.

"Slot may want to bring his own players in but when you look at the age, the attitude, the commitment and the talent in this Liverpool team it offers us a lot to look forward to.

"It’s a new Liverpool team that Klopp has left behind. Slot won’t have too much work to do this summer."

What is Jurgen Klopp’s primary achievement at Liverpool?

Klopp will soon take his leave but he does so with a wealth of success to speak of.

Picking one achievement is tough but John wasted no time!

He said: “Klopp’s best achievement has been winning the Premier League. Not the Champions League. Teams can win the Champions League and be lucky.

“The best team in the country wins the Premier League and beating that fantastic Manchester City side to the title is his greatest achievement.”

Which Liverpool players are you excited to see at the EUROs?

The EUROs have to enter John's thinking!

When asked about the upcoming UEFA tournament, he said: “I haven’t really thought about the Euros to be honest.

"I’m really looking forward to seeing Slot come in next season and bring some new ideas to this Liverpool team.

“I want to see what Slot has to offer.”
