Liverpool "willing to pay high price" to complete £35m signing but they're not alone

On Tuesday, Goal Brasil reported that with Fluminense preparing to sell Andre in the January transfer window, Liverpool have made contact but have yet to make a formal offer.

According to the report, both Liverpool and Fulham are "willing to pay a high price" to sign the Brazilian when the winter window opens on January 1st at midnight.

Fluminense will only sell Andre to clubs abroad for a fee of around €40 million (£35m) with Premier League clubs reportedly the most likely to stand a chance due to their superior financial power.

It's for this reason, Sporting Lisbon will not sign him as they reportedly do not have "the same financial power as English clubs and may have difficulty reaching a proposal that pleases Flu."

The London Evening Standard, however, published a report today titled: "Andre: Fulham ahead of Liverpool and Man United in race to sign £30m Brazil star."

The Cottagers reportedly sent chief executive Alistair Mackintosh to Brazil for "face-to-face talks last week" which has swung momentum in their direction.

As more and more reports emerge, it's becoming more confusing to make sense of where Andre will go next.

While he is still only 22, the defensive midfielder is ready for a club bigger than Fulham so it would be quite fascinating if he rejected Liverpool to join them.

That said, moving to Craven Cottage would place him under less pressure as he continues to develop.
