Liverpool can "expect developments next month" on €40m Andre transfer battle

Liverpool can "expect developments next month" on €40m Andre transfer battle

Fulham are not close to a move to sign Andre Trindade from Fluminense despite reports to the contrary.

On Monday, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicolas claimed on his YouTube channel that the Premier League side will reach an agreement with Fluminense to sign Andre "in the coming days".

This came after Fabrizio Romano reported live on Kick that "Liverpool are not negotiating or pushing" to sign the 22-year-old midfielder and that "other clubs are in the race."

This refers to Arsenal, Manchester United and Fulham.

Fulham, however, are not as close to signing the Copa Libertadores champions as suggested, according to Jacques Talbot from Football Transfers.

Their information suggests that further developments on the Andre transfer race will come in December.

Reporting on Twitter (or X as it's called now), Talbot said: "My understanding is Fulham are not close to a deal for André right now.

"Fluminense want closer to €40m - not €30m.

"Can probably expect developments next month, though."

Fluminense are holding out for as much cash as they can which is understandable given the huge interest in him from the Premier League.

Liverpool may or may not be planning to sign Andre but if they don't, Jurgen Klopp's side will remain without a defensive midfielder which could be very costly as the season progresses.

The Reds have done very well without a specialist no.6 since Fabinho's summer exit but winning silverware without a top defensive midfielder is incredibly difficult.

At the moment, Liverpool are vulnerable every time they lose the ball in the attacking third as Alexis Mac Allister's skillset isn't suited to breaking play.

The World Cup champion is far more talented at creating play and until Liverpool sign a defensive midfielder, his talents will continue to be wasted.
