Jamie Carragher's embarrassing tweet after Atalanta loss suggests he's forgotten his Liverpool career

Jamie Carragher's embarrassing tweet after Atalanta loss suggests he's forgotten his Liverpool career

Jamie Carragher has told Jurgen Klopp what to do after watching his lose 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday evening - it's really, really poor advice.

Liverpool were shocking against Atalanta last night and they actually deserved to lose by four on the balance of the game but there is the faintest chance the Reds can work a miracle in the second leg.

Of course, the odds of doing so are not favourable by any means.

And this is Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, don't forget.

It seems that one person that has forgotten the power of Liverpool in European competition is a man that played in the greatest comeback not only in Liverpool history but in the history of the Champions Leaguet.

Jamie Carragher seems to have forgotten his time at Liverpool

737 games for Liverpool and it appears, Carragher has no memory of it.

The Sky Sports pundit may not have been the hero that night in Istanbul but I can scarcely believe he has forgotten the lessons that fateful game of football had.

We all know the story. Liverpool came from 3-0 down in the 2005 Champions League final to beat one of the greatest club sides of all time, AC Milan, in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Liverpool are 3-0 down to Atalanta in the first leg (not the first half!) and yet, somehow, Jamie Carragher is telling Jurgen Klopp to abandon hope and playing a weak side in the second leg.

He said on Twitter after fulltime last night: “Awful result and performance from Liverpool, the only consolation about getting beat so heavily is Jurgen should play a full second string in the second leg and go all in for the league!”

Liverpool fans have shown Carragher what a poor take this was

If you take a cursory glance at the replies to his tweet, you'll find that Carragher is the only person of a Liverpool persuasion suggesting Klopp forego even an attempt at a comeback in the second leg.

Of course, the former Liverpool defender would likely be one of the first in line to have a pop at Klopp if the German ever dared do something so wasteful.

Yes, it's highly, highly unlikely that we see the Reds in the semi-finals of the Europa League after that performance but one thing you will definitely see is a fired up display from the Reds in the second leg.

In his haste to get a tweet out, Carragher forgot to look at all the facts. Liverpool now have several players back from injury and by the time the second leg arrives in less than a week, it may be a fully fit and firing Liverpool team that takes to the pitch in Italy.

We do not give up.

We do not abandon hope.

We keep fighting.

YNWA.
