Liverpool might help Arsenal complete signing but the €85M star will not move to Anfield

In a twist that could benefit Arsenal in the transfer market, the agent of the club's prime target, Viktor Gyokeres, has indicated that Liverpool's managerial changes might inadvertently boost the Gunners' chances of securing their top signing this summer.

As the Premier League season approaches its climax, Liverpool and Arsenal are locked in a fierce battle for the title, both teams sitting at 71 points with only seven matches remaining.

The dynamics of their rivalry are set to change in the upcoming season, with Jurgen Klopp announcing his departure from Liverpool after a nine-year tenure.

His successor is expected to be Ruben Amorim, the current manager of Sporting CP, who is on the verge of leading his team to the Primeira Liga title over Benfica.

This would mark Sporting's second league title under Amorim, equalling their total from the two decades prior.

Amorim's potential move to Liverpool could play into Arsenal's hands, particularly in their pursuit of Sporting's standout striker, Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swedish forward, aged 25, has been a revelation in European football this year, having scored 36 goals across all competitions since his £20 million transfer from Coventry City last summer.

Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has publicly stated the challenge Sporting will face in retaining the striker should Amorim exit the club. Cetinkaya highlighted the unique appeal Amorim had for Gyokeres, choosing Sporting over eight Premier League clubs that offered more lucrative deals.

"If Ruben Amorim leaves at the end of the season, it will be very difficult for Viktor to stay at Sporting," Cetinkaya told Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

“I’m not surprised that Rúben is being linked with Liverpool, it’s normal, his work is of a high standard, it’s what clubs are looking for,” he said.

“If Ruben Amorim leaves at the end of the season, it will be very difficult for Viktor to stay at Sporting. Amorim was the only reason he came — there was EIGHT better proposals but I brought him here because Amorim is another level of a coach.

“It’s a huge amount of money [€100 M], only available to the biggest clubs, but I have several top clubs interested in Viktor. I can’t, of course, name any clubs, but they’re top clubs, some in the Premier League, but not only that.”

Cetinkaya's remarks underscore the significance of Amorim's relationship with Gyokeres, suggesting that Amorim's departure could lead Gyokeres to reconsider his future at Sporting.

Could Liverpool sign Gyokeres?

There is currently very little linking Liverpool with a move to sign Gyokeres in the summer aside from a January report from HITC Football suggesting the Reds scouted the Sporting Lisbon striker.

Liverpool and Newcastle United had scouts in attendance at the Estadio Jose Alvalade as they witnessed the striker bag a hattrick of assists as Sporting punished Estoril 5-1.

Chelsea reportedly had a £73 million (€85M) bid rejected at the time which Sporting's head coach Ruben Amorim says was immediately dismissed because it was "not enough."

For now, seems entirely unlikely Gyokeres will be heading to Anfield even if Amorim does indeed sign as Klopp's replacement.
