Big claim: In the know journalist on "negotiations taking place" between LFC and agent

Liverpool are actively pursuing Ruben Amorim, the current manager of Sporting CP, to take over the helm from Jurgen Klopp this summer, according to journalist Pedro Sepulveda.

Amorim is reportedly the sole candidate on Liverpool’s managerial shortlist as the club prepares for a significant transition.

This is in direct conflict with what Fabrizio Romano reported last week. The Italian said: "Liverpool have not met with Rúben Amorim and there is no agreement for him to take over at Anfield.

"The Sporting CP coach is not the only option."

Now, Sepulveda reports that Liverpool are only considering Amorim.

Reporting via X, he claims: "Rúben Amorim is the only name on Liverpool's table to be the next coach, today.

"All the others are fake news and aim to divert attention from the negotiations taking place with Amorim's agent.

"Still no contacts with Sporting."

Liverpool in talks with Amorim's agent and Amorim's agent only

According to Sepulveda, Liverpool are only currently talking to Amorim's agent which would suggest that CEO of Football Michael Edwards considers the Portuguese manager to be the best option available to replace Jurgen Klopp.

Xabi Alonso removed himself from the race and after winning the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen, he will no turn his focus to the Europa League and continuing his success with the club next season.

Liverpool, however, will continue their talks with Amorim's agent as their due diligence process continues before a decision on hiring him will be taken.
