Player compared to N'Golo Kante has "attracted attention from Liverpool"

Liverpool have been alerted to the form of exciting young midfielder Morten Frendrup, who is impressing in Italy with Genoa.

According to Get Italian Football News, the Reds are "keeping tabs" on the 22-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp needs a new defensive midfielder and while a new report states Liverpool are now winning the race to sign Andre, Frendrup is a player they are tracking.

It's clear to see why.

His talent is winning the ball back and he has even been likened to the iconic N'Golo Kante.

Frendrup is an inch taller than Kante but there are many similarities in their play-breaking.

Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig compared the two, writing: "Morten Frendrup reminds me of N’Golo Kante.

"Big comparison, I know, but they share some of the same traits.

"They are both not the biggest and most intimidating midfielders, but they are both fast, great at reading the game, and they intercept almost everything."

I'm sure that's like music to Jurgen Klopp's ears. The German has often relied on his players reading the game to cut passing lanes.

Frendrup does this with almost frightening consistency.

This season, the Danish midfielder has completed 5.5 tackles and interceptions per 90 which is the most of any Serie A player, underlining how well suited he would be to the Reds' midfield.

Liverpool are yet to accelerate their interest in the Serie A midfielder while interest in Andre remains high with the Reds reportedly the favourites to land his signature.
