Liverpool could return to to sign “phenomenal” Frenchman after he recovered from injury

Liverpool could return to to sign “phenomenal” Frenchman after he recovered from injury

Liverpool were keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone in the summer but his untimely injury shelved any chances of a 2023 move to Anfield.

Now, however, the Reds seem to have revived their interest.

Since Georginio Wijnaldum left for PSG, Liverpool have constantly been linked with press-resistant midfield monsters.

This tells me that Jurgen Klopp still believes his tactics can reach another level if he signs a player with the Dutchman's skillset.

These transfer hopes may be bolstered by recent reports.

The "phenomenal" midfielder remains a target of Liverpool's, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

Reporting via Twitter, he says: “PSG added Manu Kone to their list of midfielders.

“The French player – whose contract with Gladbach expires in 2026 – is also followed by Liverpool and Tottenham.”

While this season's encouraging results suggest that Liverpool's 2023 midfield rebuild has been successful, there is always room for a player like Kone.

According to Fbrefs, he excels in many of the same categories as Wijnaldum did at Anfield.

His pass accuracy is an encouraging 87% but it's his ability to carry the ball through a packed midfield that excites me. He averages 2.53 progressive carries (carries that move the ball closer to goal) per 90 which puts him in the 87th percentile of all midfielders in Europe.

If this transfer develops, keep an eye out for a full player profile...
