Liverpool Wanted To Sign "Big Talent" Before Disaster Hit - Even Agreed Terms

Liverpool wanted to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone before his untimely injury this summer.

The 22-year-old suffered injury while at the U21 European Championship with France during the summer, ruling out a move to Anfield.

According to Christian Falk, Liverpool would have likely signed Kone had he not picked up an injury with Fabrizio Romano reporting in the summer that Liverpool were among the clubs interested in the "big talent."

Liverpool subsequently completed their summer incomings with Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch coming.

Kone reportedly even agreed personal terms with Liverpool before his move to Anfield fell through with talk of a bid even floating around at the time.

Nothing in the press suggests that Liverpool are contemplating a return for the French midfielder but after Gravenberch joined the Reds, he may not be needed anymore.

The Dutch midfielder has already teased fans with his talent although he will have slept poorly after missing a sitter against Brighton before the Seagulls equalised in Liverpool's most recent fixture.
