Liverpool could submit bid for Manu Kone "in next days"

Liverpool could present an offer to Borussia Monchengladbach to sign exciting young midfielder Manu Kone as they continue their bid to bolster their midfield ranks.

Jurgen Klopp's midfield headache worsened further this weekend when Alexis Mac Allister was bizarrely sent off for a late challenge on Bournemouth's Ryan Christie.

While the club is appealing it, the setback lays bare Liverpool's lack of depth in midfield.

What's the transfer latest on Manu Kone to Liverpool?

After signing Stuttgart midfielder Wataru Endo, Liverpool want to add another central midfielder to their ranks.

The latest on interest in Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone is that Liverpool could present an offer to sign the 22-year-old "in [the] next days".

This comes from journalist Pedro Almeida, who states it would not be difficult for Liverpool to reach an agreement with Gladbach despite the late stage in the summer window.

The Premier League transfer window slams shut on the 3rd of September, leaving the Reds just 12 days to complete their summer transfers.

What would Kone bring to Anfield?

Kone is an exciting young talent and would certainly get fans off their feet. Holding midfielders in England tend to be quite reserved, allowing their midfield counterparts and forwards to do the bulk of ball carrying. Kone is different.

The France U21 talent thrives with the ball at his feet. He's more than capable of wriggling out of tight spaces and when there's space in front of him, opposition midfielders are left in the dust as he drives the ball forward.

This might not be as much of a feature of his game should he move to Anfield as Klopp instructs his midfield to play a simple game in the middle of the park in order to move the ball to the flanks quickly.

Liverpool need to act quickly to complete summer transfers

This summer transfer window has been chaotic for those of a Liverpool persuasion. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving complicated things but with Endo arriving and making his debut against Bournemouth, Klopp's squad is ever so close to being ready for the season ahead.

Kone would be a great signing. After missing out on several top targets, Liverpool simply need to make sure they have enough players in every position to avoid a repeat of last season.
