LFC have the "advantage" to complete €60M signing before Man Utd

Liverpool are reportedly a step ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Nice centre-back Jean Clair-Todibo in the summer transfer window.

With Joel Matip's contract expiring at the end of the season, the search is on for his replacement. His ACL injury means he could leave the club without playing another match in Red but despite the tragic nature of his injury, Liverpool can't stand still.

Many centre-backs have been linked, with links to Sporting Lisbon star Goncalo Inacio particularly strong.

However, reports have now emerged that suggest Liverpool are in pole position to beat Manchester United to Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

Liverpool have transfer advantage over United to sign Jean-Clair Todibo

According to Nice-Matin, Liverpool have an "advantage" in the race to sign Todibo at the end of the season with moving to Anfield seen as "very attractive" option for the 24-year-old.

Manchester United are also very interested while Tottenham, Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain all harbour hopes of signing him in the summer.

The report states: "Liverpool have the advantage over Manchester United".

Jurgen Klopp's coaching, Anfield, their glittering history and current era of success are mentioned as reasons for why Todibo might choose Liverpool over United.

It will cost around €60 million (£51.6M) to convince Nice to part ways with the talented defender but given his talent and high ceiling on his potential, it could prove to be a bargain.
