Top player Liverpool are in talks to sign would "bring a bit more attitude"

Liverpool's name has been thrown about in connection to a free transfer to sign Kylian Mbappe at the end of the season but it remains a very improbable signing.

The Frenchman commands goliath wages and could even disrupt the squad harmony that Jurgen Klopp has worked tirelessly to foster.

Real Madrid remain the majority's favourite to secure a deal to sign Mbappe but until a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is confirmed, expect to see countless stories linking Liverpool with a fantastical move to sign the 25-year-old.

Liverpool not likely to sign Mbappe, says Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy doesn't believe there is any chance Liverpool sign Mbappe and he's probably right,

“I don’t see it,” he said, when asked about links to Mbappe on The Take On podcast.

Murphy continued: “I think you could fit him in if Salah went. Because Salah’s the only one who really doesn’t have to do the intense work the others do. It was the same when Mane and Firmino were there.

“He’s not lazy, Salah. But he’s not particularly good defensively. He keeps his energy for the goals and making sure he wins games. So I think you can always carry one a little bit, because Mbappe won’t do the hard yards, he’ll just save his energy to win games because that’s the way he is.

“So I don’t think you could have both. And you couldn’t have both financially at Liverpool.

“I don’t think it’s so much about the perception from others. I think it’s more about the individual and the way they conduct themselves. Salah apparently, unbelievable pro, trains like a demon. Everyone loves him, he’s the nicest guy in the world.

“I think Mbappe might bring a bit more attitude. He is the way he is. I don’t see it fitting. Klopp runs a tight ship.”

John Henry, Liverpool owner, is reportedly on a "personal mission" to bring the 25-year-old superstar to Anfield with talks reportedly set to take place this month.

It will take a monumental effort, both financially and in terms of behind the scenes work, to sign Mbappe with new reports firm on insisting Liverpool are a realistic option for the Frenchman.

Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world but question marks hang over the affordability of this type of transfer.
