Contact made - Liverpool want €60M signing as club holds talks for replacement

The Bundesliga has once again become a breeding ground for talent that attracts the attention of Premier League clubs, with the latest sensation being a South American standout impressing in his debut season in Germany.

With Liverpool set to lose Joel Matip, the need for a solid central defender is imminent, especially as the club prepares for a new managerial era post-Jurgen Klopp.

Similarly, Arsenal, despite the strong performances of Gabriel and William Saliba throughout most of the season, faces a significant drop in quality among their backup options.

This season, one of the standout defenders in the Bundesliga has been Willian Pacho from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite joining last summer from Royal Antwerp and arriving as a relatively unknown entity, Pacho has quickly made a name for himself.

However, an update from Sky Germany's reporter Florian Plettenberg via Twitter suggests that both Arsenal and Liverpool have now made formal enquiries.

The reported transfer fee to secure Pacho's services stands at €60 million (£51M).

With the 22-year-old likely to leave in the summer amid huge interest from clubs abroad, Frankfurt are making moves to act early on signing Pacho's replacement.

According to Plettenberg again, talks have taken place with PAOK to sign Konstantinos Koulierakis but he will only join if Pacho leaves the club in the summer.

Liverpool are also considering a move for Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson, who has a £68 million price tag but is also a target for Tottenham and Newcastle United.
