In recent months, Liverpool tried to make a move for Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad, according to Mundo Deportivo, via Paisley Gates.

Despite a significant offer that activated his €60 million (£51M) release clause, the Japanese midfielder chose to remain with his current club.

However, new reports suggest Liverpool are preparing a new bid to secure the services of the highly-regarded 22-year-old talent.

La Liga regulations mean all players must have release clauses in their contracts and Kubo is no different.

According to Spanish source, Fichajes, Liverpool want to finalise a move to bring him to Anfield, urging fans to observe his performances closely.

They claim that Liverpool are in "attack mode" but that "negotiations could become complicated."

This is because he reportedly prefers to stay in Spain, but the Reds are persistent in their pursuit.

Whether or not this persistence will pay off is another matter entirely.

The Merseyside club is reportedly contemplating a £51 million offer to Real Sociedad for Kubo, but the decision ultimately lies with the player.

As Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool approaches its end this season, it wouldn't be surprising to see Mohamed Salah, the club’s Egyptian star, also make a move although beIN Sports have suggested he will stay at Anfield for another season.

If Salah does leave, they will need a suitable replacement but Kubo is certainly not at the level required to take the place of such an iconic and influential player.

That said, Liverpool have never been the type of club to spend huge amounts on replacing players and it doesn't seem likely FSG will change this approach just because Jurgen Klopp is leaving.

This season, Kubo has seven goals and three assists and to be the heir to Salah at Anfield, he needs to be way more prolific.
