Liverpool now want to sign €45M French ace after 2023 move to Anfield collapsed

The summer transfer window is approaching, and Liverpool and Bayern Munich are reportedly in a bidding war for the highly sought-after midfielder Manu Kone.

Currently contracted with Borussia Mönchengladbach until June 30, 2026, Kone has caught the attention of Europe's elite clubs with his performances in the Bundesliga.

Although he has a few years left on his contract, the chance to play for a bigger club could tempt him to move on sooner rather than later.

According to Spanish publication Fichjaes, Gladbach could part ways with him for around €40-45 million, making the upcoming window an attractive opportunity for clubs interested in the French midfielder.

Liverpool, who are preparing for a significant overhaul with Arne Slot replacing Jurgen Klopp as head coach, is among the frontrunners in the race to sign Kone.

The Reds have been looking to revamp their midfield, with a specific focus on adding versatile players who can adapt to Slot's system.

Kone's name was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool during the 2023 summer transfer window. However, after suffering a knee injury, his chances of moving to Anfield were cut short.
