Liverpool receive massive double injury boost ahead of Leeds clash

Liverpool will be buoyed by the news that Virgil van Dijk and Harvey Elliott are fit to face Leeds United on Sunday despite injury scares during the international break.

The Dutchman dislocated his finger on Erling Haaland against Norway before a Turkey attacker lunged in on him and left him in a heap which had Liverpool fans around the world concerned.

Harvey Elliott's fitness has also been a concern for supporters as the teenager was pulled from England U21 training but it appears he will be fit to face Leeds as I said might be part of Klopp's grand plan.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com on Thursday afternoon, Klopp said: “Taki is already here for a while, he got injured obviously with Japan.

“With Virgil, that was obviously a scary moment, you can imagine. I sent him a message after the game, ‘Are you alright?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘100 per cent?’ ‘200 per cent.’ ‘Come on, send me a video of you without limping...’ ‘I’m only limping off.’

“So he called me from the bus and said, ‘Boss, I’m fine!’ I said, ‘Why are you limping then?’ He said, ‘My wife asked the same!’ So, yeah, that was a bit of a tricky moment but apart from that, no, all fine [for the other international players].

“Bobby is not [fit], it happened in the game [against Chelsea] obviously. Harvey is fine again.”

Liverpool are hoping to return to winning ways after dropping two points against the Blues at Anfield in what was a very disappointing game.

The match was there for the taking at home, against 10 men and early in the season before Thomas Tuchel's men could build up a head of steam.

Hopefully, the Reds don't go on to regret not beating taking the full three points but this weekend gives Jurgen Klopp's men a chance to get another win under their belt before the Champions League campaign gets underway against AC Milan in midweek.
