Spanish report details "the midfielder that Liverpool plans to sign" in January

Liverpool could capitalise on Piotr Zielinski's contract expiring with a "bold" move to sign him in January.

A report titled "The midfielder that Liverpool plans to sign" was published by Spanish news outlet Fichajes, stating Jurgen Klopp wants to bring him to Anfield this season.

The Reds reportedly "appear willing to take the bold step in the upcoming January transfer window".

It would bring the club full circle after Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign the Poland international in 2016 but Udinese ultimately wound up selling him to Napoli.

The midfielder was even spotted wearing a Liverpool shirt at the time and although it felt like he would sign for the Reds, a move never materialised.

But he's done really well with Napoli since then so it worked out for him it seems.

Liverpool need a new midfielder to bolster their efforts this season after not replacing Fabinho when he left the club in the summer.

Although he got seven goals and 11 assists last season in Napoli's title-winning campaign, Zielinksi simply isn't what Jurgen Klopp needs to take his squad to the next level.

The German needs a defensive midfielder and a left-sided centre-back but signing a no.6 and nobody else would be enough for the Reds to have the depth needed to compete in all four competitions in 2024.

Liverpool's interest in Andre is ongoing as the Premier League's biggest clubs intensify their plans to recruit the Fluminense star this winter transfer window.

Signing the Brazilian in January would be a statement of intent in the title race as well. FSG need to back their man, Klopp, and give him the tools he needs to end the season on a high.
