Manchester United prepare counter offer to undermine Liverpool’s planned £60M bid

Manchester United are preparing an offer to undermine Liverpool’s planned £60 million bid to sign Michael Olise.

Reports in the last few days have suggested that paying big money won't keep the Reds away from the competition to sign the highly-rated Crystal Palace.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all reportedly interested in acquiring the France U21 star but it's United that are making the first counter-move.

Liverpool plan £60M bid to sign Michael Olise

In Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Arsenal joined the race to sign Michael Olise but that Liverpool are a step ahead in their plans to move for him.

They want him in January apparently and are willing to spend between £52 million and £60 million (€60M-€70M) to get a deal across the line.

It's an ambitious claim and one that will be proven right or wrong over the next few weeks but if true, would give Jurgen Klopp the best cover for Mohamed Salah since the forward move to Anfield in 2017.

Manchester United are now preparing a counter move to the reported Reds bid preparations.

Manchester United preparing player-plus-cash offer to Crystal Palace

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United are prepared to offer Palace their former right back, Aaron Wan Bissaka, to reduce the price of signing Olise.

Their's is a player-plus-cash offer but the Man United right back is not the £50 million player he was when he joined the club in 2019 and has struggled to start consistently under Erik ten Hag.

It has been suggested that Olise would view joining the likes of Liverpool as "a dream" and given the success the Reds have enjoyed compared to United, it would likely be an easy choice to choose Anfield over Old Trafford in 2024.
