Liverpool urged to complete move for £100M midfielder by club legend

Liverpool urged to complete move for £100M midfielder by club legend

While most of the transfer talk involving Liverpool is centered around the need for a new centre-back, a defensive midfielder is also required.

Fabinho and Jordan Henderson left the club for the Saudi Pro League in the summer, leaving the Reds without an experienced player to take charge at the base of the midfield.

Wataru Endo was subsequently signed but is not a long-term solution.

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been linked as an option to come in to fill the no.6 role and Liverpool have now been urged to get a deal done to bring him to Anfield.

Speaking to the Liverpool ECHO, the club legend has urged Jurgen Klopp to capitalise on Newcastle's financial woes to sign the Brazilian.

Aldo said: "Bruno Guimaraes is a good player too, a really good player.

"He plays in a position where we need to improve, in my opinion. Even with Endo in the team, who has really done well. But when you’re looking at perfection, you’ve got to have two players for every position.

"It’s a position we’ve struggled with for some time. Endo’s started to come good in it, he’s got used to the Premier League.

"But when very good players become available, all the top teams are looking at them and you’ve got to be in the mix. Whether Liverpool are in the mix, we’ll have to wait and see.

"But he’s a really good player for Newcastle. It’s quite refreshing to see, Newcastle have got all this money but we can actually see FFP hopefully, hopefully, starting to come into effect."
