Liverpool could sign £3k-a-week breakout midfield star - perfect midfield addition

Liverpool's midfield is currently fractured due to injuries and fans are pleading with their club to bring in some reinforcements.

Thiago, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all find themselves out of action for at least another few weeks at best.

Reported targets across the summer have included Jude Bellingham, Matheus Nunes, Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic to name a few.

However, perhaps the answer lies with a lesser-known name who's already impressed in the Premier League in a deal that is certifiably good business.

Latest reports on Moises Caicedo

The Brighton midfielder turned heads with his performance at Old Trafford and now he's being linked with every top club you could possibly name.

According to 90Min, Liverpool along with Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, and Atletico Madrid are 'keeping tabs' on 20-year-old midfielder, Caicedo, who has impressed in his brief career so far for the Seagulls.

It must be stated that Brighton are not considering any deals for the player who only joined last summer from Beerschot V.A. for £4M.

He had previously rejected a move to United in favour of signing for the Seagulls but is still very raw given he's only played 10 PL games so far - remaining at the Amex will see him develop even further before he makes the eventual step-up.

How would he fit in at Liverpool?

Caicedo, 20, is a powerful presence in midfield and is a warrior in the centre of the pitch. He's already been capped 23 times for his country and offers a real presence in midfield.

He currently plays in a midfield double pivot with Alexis Mac Allister in a 3-4-3 system and plays in the same pivot for Ecuador in a 4-2-3-1 set-up. Graham Potter likes players who are tactically flexible and Caicedo offers that.

There's no reason why he couldn't operate in Liverpool's midfield three as the box-to-box, tough tackling midfielder; he ranks in the 84th and 86th percentile for tackles and clearances for midfielders.

However, his attacking stats can be improved upon, and they should naturally develop given he's still only 20 and hasn't had a full season in English football as of yet.

But over another season or two, Caicedo will surely go from a £5M valued player to something 10x that - it's just whether a top club wants to move for him right now.
