Hull City manager Liam Rosenior has been vocal about his admiration for Fabio Carvalho, the young attacking midfielder on loan from Liverpool.
The 21-year-old has made a significant impact at Hull and after over a year of of stagnation, he is beginning to show all the signs of the exciting young player Liverpool signed from Hull City in 2022.
He returned early from his disappointing loan spell with RB Leipzig in the January transfer window before heading to Hull which Rosenior described as a "no brainer."
Since joining Hull City on loan for the remainder of the season, Carvalho has become a central figure in Rosenior's squad, featuring prominently in the team's lineup.
His contribution was notably highlighted in Hull's latest match, where his goal in the 35th minute was pivotal in securing a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion.
When asked about Carvalho’s performance against West Brom after the game, Rosenior told Hull City’: “He's top, he's top.
“It was better than a nice bit of quality. It was a fantastic strike, we know he is capable of it.
He has been an absolute delight to work with since he came in.
“Not just his quality but his mentality to run and press and run back for the team, yes he is a real bright spot for us.”
In the Championship this season, Carvalho has played eight games and has scored three goals.
Beyond those basic stats, data from Sofascore shows he's averaging 1.9 key passes per game but the 21-year-old is also chipping in defensively.
He averages just 0.9 interceptions per game but he's also making 1.4 tackles and has four balls recovered per 90 as well. It's the type of performance we want to see if he's to graduate to the Liverpool first team at some point in the near future.
Jurgen Klopp leaving complicates things but it also gives him a new coach to impress and a new chance at a fresh start at Anfield with the jury currently out on his future with the club.
