Liverpool transfer possible as club can’t compete “from a financial point of view”

Fulham have ended their pursuit of 22-year-old midfielder Andre due to financial reasons which leaves the door open for Liverpool or Arsenal to steal in and sign him.

The Cottagers pulled out of the race for his signature quite suddenly and now, Fulham boss Marco Silva has revealed why.

Speaking honestly, the 46-year-old said: "I'm really happy with the squad. I cannot hide how happy I am. We make some changes last summer and lost a player really important to us [in Aleksandar Mitrovic].

"For us to try and sign someone it has to be someone who can add quality to our squad or to be at a level that can make an impact. When I say it is quiet [in January] it is because from a financial point of view it probably won't be possible."

In other recent Andre news, Fluminense have yet to receive offers for the Brazilian. Multiple Liverpool bids were rejected in the summer as both Flu and Andre wanted to finish the season together as they targeted a first ever triumph in the Copa Libertadores.

Their mission was successful as they became champions in December but now, they may have missed an opportunity to arrange a transfer with European clubs.

As things stand, there is no sign that Liverpool, Arsenal or other Premier League sides will return for Andre.
