Moises Caicedo “should have gone to Liverpool or Arsenal”

Moises Caicedo “should have gone to Liverpool or Arsenal”

Moises Caicedo should have joined Liverpool or Arsenal in the summer - not Chelsea. That's the claim being made by former Blues midfielder Craig Burley after the rocky start to life at Stamford Bridge for the 22-year-old midfielder.

Despite Chelsea spending over £1 BILLION on transfer and loan fees, the Blues remain stranded in Premier League midtable obscurity after finishing 12th last season.

This is in spite of beating Liverpool to Moises Caicedo. The former Brighton star could have moved to Anfield after a £111 million bid was agreed with the Seagulls.

He chose to move to Chelsea for £115 million instead and may be regretting that with the Blues 10th in the Premier League table and 1-0 down on aggregate in their two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Middlesbrough.

Now, Craig Burley has suggested that Caicedo should not have joined his former club and instead should have moved to either Liverpool or Arsenal.

“At Brighton, he looked like a £100 million player," Burley said while speaking on ESPN.

“He was a right player at Brighton, he was.

"Arsenal wanted him, Chelsea, Liverpool wanted him.

"Chelsea got him. He should’ve gone to Liverpool or Arsenal, not Chelsea.

"That’s a different story.

"He’s made the wrong move at this moment in time, no sign of that changing.”

Liverpool, meanwhile, are flourishing. The Reds top the league table, are ahead on aggregate in their own Carabao Cup semi-final, into the FA Cup third round and the knockouts of the Europa League.

Klopp's side really couldn't be doing a better job.

All this in spite of their summer midfield rebuild. All four new midfielders have impressed, providing a much-needed refresh on technical and physical capabilities in the engine room.

Caicedo could have been a part of Liverpool 2.0 but his loss will have little effect on the exciting season developing at Anfield.
