Everything suggests LFC will lose £20M star this summer after reminder how much it will hurt

Liverpool backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher delivered a world class goalkeeping display in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The 5-1 score line doesn't do Sparta Prague any justice. They gave the Reds several scares but were unable to showcase the clinical finishing the visiting side was able to.

The European outing, as amazing as it was, was a painful reminder of what a talented player Kelleher is.

It's painful because he needs to be playing week in, week out but is unable to at Anfield due to Alisson Becker being the best goalkeeper in the world.

He's getting regular game time at the moment due to the Brazilian's injury but will likely leave at the end of the season.

A report from Football Insider claims that Celtic will make a serious push for his signature at the end of the season to replace Joe Hart.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claimed in January that Liverpool will accept bids at around the £20 million mark.

Given a 7.7 match rating by Sofascore, Kelleher had a busy evening filled with acrobatic saves and he even dropped on his ribcage from six feet after jumping high to claim a cross.

Despite a moment of panic, he was able to get back up and did not pick up an injury. That would have been a disaster with Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

The 25-year-old made six saves, two high claims including three saves in his six-yard box.

It was an excellent match to prepare for the weekend as Sparta were intense if not clinical. Kelleher may be expected to produce some more wonder saves if the Reds are to beat Pep Guardiola's team this weekend.

Fans have no doubt Kelleher is an able replacement for Alisson and after he secured the Carabao Cup for Liverpool, he can further endear himself to fans by helping them win the Premier League this season.

To do so, they can't afford to lose on Sunday.
