Liverpool monitoring in-form Hwang Hee-Chan ahead of potential summer transfer

Liverpool are monitoring the form of South Korean attacker Hwang Hee-chan as the Wolves star has already reached his best-ever Premier League goals tally.

It's only halfway through the season and yet the 27-year-old is in better form than anyone in England remembers seeing.

The big clubs around the country are taking notice and Liverpool are included.

Hwang Hee-chan in best-ever Premier League form and Liverpool have noticed

Until now, Hee-chan's best Premier League goal tally was five in the 2021/22 season but he has already doubled that with around half the season to go.

According to Football Insider, this form has caused Liverpool and Tottenham to sit up and take notice. Only Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke, Son Heung-Min and Jarrod Bowen have scored more league goals this season than Hwang Hee-chan.

While they're unlikely to make a move for the former RB Leipzig star in January, Spurs. and Liverpool are assessing his performances ahead of a potential move in the summer transfer window.

Since he was moved from the wing to centre-forward, Hee-chan has exploded into life.

It's a move that has liberated him from ball-carrying and chance creation, allowing him to focus on using his instinctive reactions to put the ball into the back of the net.

It has proved to be an inspired move from Wolves manager Gary O'Neil as his side has 11 points more this season after the same number of games when compared to the 2022/23 season.

What will it take for Liverpool to sign Hwang Hee-chan?

Despite already having terms lasting until 30 June 2026, Wolves chose to hand Hwang Hee-chan a fresh contract which now only expires in 2028.

His fresh terms are reportedly worth £70,000/week while his hot form could see a move to sign him cost in the region of £40 million to £50 million.

Liverpool will not sign him this month with scouts evaluating his performances for the rest of the season before a decision will made regarding his eligibility for a move to Anfield.
