Liverpool "able to offer close to €100m" for 22-year-old

Liverpool "able to offer close to €100m" for 22-year-old

In a eye-grabbing update from Spain, "it's over" for Rodrygo at Real Madrid in a massive boost to Jurgen Klopp's desires to sign the Brazilian.

Last week, it was stated that Rodrygo remains under discussion in Liverpool's recruitment department as a replacement for Mohamed Salah is considered.

This line of thinking was prompted by interest from Saudi Arabia this summer.

A verbal offer worth £150m offer from Al-Ittihad was rejected but it's likely increased offers will be submitted in January and failing that, the 2024 summer transfer window.

What's the latest on Rodrygo to Liverpool?

Rodrygo's departure is linked to his faltering form so far this season. Despite starting every game of Real Madrid's La Liga campaign so far, the 22-year-old has failed to shine.

With just one goal in 599 minutes of league football this season, it's obvious to see that something isn't right.

Since Jude Bellingham's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu, Rodygo has been utilised as more of a striker alongside with the English midfielder occupying the no.10 role to devastating effect.

With six goals and an assist in his opening seven games in all appearances, Bellingham has taken to La Liga like a fish to water.

Rodygo, on the other hand, may find himself dreaming of a role on the right wing for Liverpool if a replacement for Mo Salah becomes a serious consideration.

Spanish outlet Nacional have published a report titled: "Rodrygo, KO, Real Madrid accepts 100 million, it’s over."

While PSG, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Tottenham are interested in Rodrygo, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool reportedly "bet the strongest" on Rodrygo and would be "able to offer an amount close to €100m".

Madrid club president Florentino Perez was "confident" that Rodrygo would "take a step forward" after Karim Benzema left the club to join Al-Ittihad.

This is a warning that owners Fenway Sports Group need to heed...

When they inevitably sit down to discuss what should be done about Mohamed Salah's future, they really need to be thinking about how this will impact the club's future.

The hidden warning in Rodrygo's struggles at Real Madrid

While Rodrygo's poor form can be attributed to playing out of position, it shows Liverpool what happens when you sell a generational forward at the peak of their powers to Al-Ittihad.

Benzema left Real Madrid in the summer transfer window for £86 million per season or a total value of £258 million.

Liverpool rejected a £150 million verbal offer and this season so far, Mohamed Salah has once again shown why he is one of the very best attackers on the planet.

The Egyptian has scored or assisted at least once in every Liverpool game this season with a total of four goals and four assists in seven games in all competitions.

While the money in question is more than considerable, is it enough to justify parting ways with one of the best forwards in club history?

Only FSG can decide that.

However, if Klopp is to take Liverpool 2.0 to the heights that this squad is capable of reaching, parting ways with Mohamed Salah isn't going to help one bit.

With an "exceptional offer in excess of €100 million" required to sign Rodrygo, extensive discussion is needed to ensure Liverpool don't suffer terribly when Salah does finally depart Anfield.
