Journalist: Liverpool submit fourth bid for Romeo Lavia

Southampton have reportedly received a fourth bid for Romeo Lavia as Liverpool look to sign the Belgian before the start of the Premier League season.

According to news reporter, Ben Jacobs, Liverpool have "already made another improved offer" which Southampton have yet to respond to.

Interestingly, Jacobs states that "Insiders across multiple clubs all say the formula of what constitutes 'value' has changed this summer."

This may have something to do with Southampton demanding £50m for a 19-year-old with 2,536 minutes of game time in the Premier League.

Liverpool obviously rate him incredibly highly although it has been difficult to draw conclusions from the Reds transfer activity as recently, their actions demand further questions.

Fans online are still trying to work out why both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were allowed to leave given the gaps in squad depth in central midfield.

Liverpool beat Darmstadt 3-1 in their final pre-season match of the season and while there were some lovely goals, the ease with which Darmstadt reached Alisson Becker's goal was upsetting.

Of course, Alexis Mac Allister was acting as the no.6 and he should not be blamed but therein stems the issue.

The Argentine is already being shoe-horned into a position he is not natural to in order to accommodate for the lack of midfielder available to Jurgen Klopp.

Once (or if) Romeo Lavia joins Liverpool, they need to immediately follow that up with another midfield signing. Liverpool simply cannot afford to let last season's issues affect the new campaign.

The 19-year-old "really wants" a switch to Anfield but time will tell if Liverpool have what it takes to convince Southampton to part ways with him.

The Reds are reportedly interested in Fluminense midfielder Andre as well although it's unclear if the Brazilian will be able to join the club now or in January.
