Joao Palhinha is reportedly being offered to Liverpool this month but a new reports suggests his dream is to join Barcelona as it grows increasingly likely Jurgen Klopp will not make any signings in the winter transfer window.

Transfer expert Alex Crook told talkSPORT: "I know his advisors have been going to the top clubs, the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea in particular and saying, look, this player has proved himself a Premier League, do you want to make Fulham an offer?"

With easy passing day, the likelihood of a new signing arriving at the AXA Training Centre grows more and more remote. The Reds could do with new players in key areas but it seems as though Liverpool will take on the second half of the 2023/24 season without further additions.

Liverpool signed four new midfielders in the summer and the £145 million outlay means that further transfers would place strain on their budget. Especially amid sensational claims that the club is working on a massive free-transfer to sign Kylian Mbappe.

One player that seems unlikely to make the switch to Anfield is Joao Palhinha. Despite continuous links with the Portugal international, it appears he dreams of joining Barcelona.

Palhinha almost secured a £55 million move to Bayern Munich in the summer. The 28-year-old completed a medical and was even pictured wearing the Germans' kit but Fulham ultimately refused to sanction the transfer after failing to sign a replacement before the close of the Bundesliga transfer window.

Now, with the Premier League side ending its pursuit of Andre, it seems as though Palhinha will stay at Craven Cottage until the summer transfer window opens again in July.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Palhinha "still has Barcelona on his mind." However, a move to Camp Nou remains unlikely given the La Liga side's financial constraints.

Speaking on his future after losing 2-1 to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, Palhinha hinted at leaving the club after nearly leaving just over six months ago.

“I’ve always said that I feel the love that the supporters have for me,” he told Sky Sports "I know that someday I will leave Fulham. I want to give everything. I’m always 100 per cent professional here, and I will do my job every time that I play for Fulham.

“This is why I always wanted to come here: to come to the best league in the world. My family looked for the best league for my game and where I fit better.”

It will cost around €60 million (£51.6M) to sign him when the season ends.
