Despite dreams of moving to PGS one day, £36M star wants to stay at Liverpool "for a long time"

On the morning of a cup final, nothing is better than reading your monstrous centre-back wants to stay at the club for a long time.

Ibrahima Konate has endeared himself to supporters with his dominant and classy displays at the heart of the Liverpool defence.

He's so good that he doesn't look at all out of place alongside an iconic defender like Virgil van Dijk - that's high praise indeed.

Still only 24, Konate has a long future ahead of him and good news for Liverpool, he wants to play it out at Anfield.

Ibrahima Konate: I want to stay at Liverpool for a long time

Despite dreams of moving to PGS one day, £36M star wants to stay at Liverpool "for a long time"

Speaking in an interview with French outlet Telefoot 1, Konate has reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool Football Club.

He said: “It’s clear that I want to stay a long time, it’s clear that I want to accomplish things.

"The most important thing to stay here is to set the bar high.”

Despite admitting to his PSG dream, Liverpool are equally as close to his heart

Konate, as a Parisian, has a connection to PSG in the same way Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones do to Liverpool FC.

After the 1-1 draw with Luton Town in November, Konate was asked by Canal Plus, via GOAL, if he imagined himself wearing a PSG shirt in the future.

He responded honestly, saying: "If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all."

But the defender has made sure with his comments to TF1 that Liverpool fans understand that his heart remains fixed on Anfield.

He joined Liverpool in 2021 for £36 million and has proven to be another bargain buy. From his bullish tackling to his ability to break lines with pinpoint passing, Konate is a wonderful player and could be come a legend at Liverpool if he continues progressing and winning titles with the Reds.
