Liverpool identify "highly rated coach" on similar model that picked Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool identify "highly rated coach" on similar model that picked Jurgen Klopp

Julian Nagelsmann is a top managerial candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp ahead of the 56-year-old's impending departure from the Anfield hot seat at the end of the season.

In what was a crushing blow for Liverpool fans, Klopp revealed last month that due to his flagging energy and desire to try and have a normal life after years of working in football management, he is leaving the club at the end of the season.

It was a shocking revelation but one that has shocked FSG into action as they contemplate life at Liverpool without Klopp.

As daunting as that thought may be. There are some very exciting, young managers in Europe at the moment and Liverpool will be like a moth to a flame for them.

While they may not have their pick of the bunch with Bayern Munich set to be in the market for a manager of their own after announcing Thomas Tuchel will leave the club in the summer as well.

Midway through the 2022/23 season, Bayern Munich fired Julian Nagelsmann.

It was a decision the 36-year-old criticised in an interview with Der Spiegel this week.

He highlighted the amount of time Jurgen Klopp had at Liverpool to get his philosophy in place and work a change at the club.

At Bayern things, are different.

Nagelsmann said: "I was signed by Bayern with the proviso that I would change things, There are clubs that give you time.

"Jürgen Klopp was at Liverpool for five years before he became champion there for the first time. Pep Guardiola only won the Champions League title with Manchester City after seven years.

“The coaches at Bayern Munich don’t get as much time to develop something.”

If Liverpool don't hire Xabi Alonso and instead turn their attention to Julian Nagelsmann, it will be done with the understanding that the young German is still a "very highly rated coach", as per the Telegraph.

Liverpool have identified Nagelsmann as a target on a similar model as Jurgen Klopp was in 2015

The Telegraph's report states that Liverpool are huge admirers of Julian Nagelsmann and a similar model based on his performance relative to the players available to him and the budget he was able to work with.

Liverpool may be one of the biggest clubs in the world and the most successful in England but they operate with far less financial liberty than some of their rivals.

As such, they need a manager that can extract as much quality from each player as possible to make the most of transfer and salary budgets.

Klopp is a master of this and whoever replaces him will need to exhibit a similar ability to work well with a budget.

Nagelsmann, although young, is still one of the best coaches in Europe and would be an interesting option to replace Klopp. A risky one, but interesting nonetheless.
