“First talks will be with": Christian Falk explains process Liverpool must follow to sign €90M gem

Christian Falk has indicated that Liverpool are closely monitoring Jamal Musiala ahead of the summer transfer window.

In a recent update, Falk, along with Fabrizio Romano, has confirmed that not only Liverpool but also heavyweight clubs Manchester City and Chelsea are interested in the Bayern Munich sensation.

This interest was elaborated on in Falk's contribution to Romano's Fact Files, where he also mentioned that Manchester City is particularly serious about their pursuit.

Falk's report suggests that Musiala is not actively seeking an exit from Bayern Munich but is awaiting discussions with the club's management about their vision for his future and the team's trajectory.

Bayern's journey to the Champions League semi-final this year is seen as a persuasive factor for the club's ambition.

The negotiations set for the summer will be Bayern's opportunity to present their commitment to Musiala's career development. Financial incentives are expected to be part of Bayern's strategy to retain him.

Falk wrote: “Manchester City are seriously interested in Jamal Musiala. Liverpool and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the Bayern star. That said, it’s not like Musiala is putting pressure on his employers to leave Munich.

“First talks will be with the management of Bayern Munich. Musiala’s entourage wants to see a plan for the future, not just for himself, but also for the club. Progressing to the semi-final of this year’s Champions League was a good argument for Bayern Munich.

“The talks with Bayern will take place in the summer and they will try everything to keep hold of Musiala. They have to also show him their plans to develop his career; they have to show him it’s possible to have a similar career to Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid whilst staying in Munich.

“They have to show him he can be an international star without leaving the Bundesliga. There will be more money, of course, on offer to sweeten the deal.”

Signing Jamal Musiala would aid Liverpool's rebuild efforts

With Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, owners FSG and their new recruits, Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, will want to make sure life continues as normal at the club.

One way to do this would be to sign a magical player like Musiala.

Of course, as Falk and Romano have made clear, there will be huge competition for Musiala and as Empire of the Kop have pointed out, the 21-year-old is a player that has the potential to win the Ballon d'Or one day.

That type of talent cannot be scoffed at even if it might cost the Reds around €100 million (£87M) to bring Musiala to Anfield.
