“Sources” say £100M Liverpool bid would be accepted to complete perfect signing

“Sources” say £100M Liverpool bid would be accepted to complete perfect signing

Liverpool are interested in signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window and are eyeing a deal to sign him that was first thought to be worth around £80 million.

A new report suggests it will be a lot higher.

Fabinho's move to Al-Ittihad in the summer left Jurgen Klopp without a specialised defensive midfielder in the squad but he has worked his magic to teach Wataru Endo exactly what he requires in the role and the Japan international has done very well.

Yet, he's 30 and will turn 31 next month and is obviously not the long-term future at the base of Liverpool's midfield.

There is still hope, despite his long-term layoff this season, that 19-year-old Stefan Bajcetic can develop into a world class no.6 but the club is, rightly so, taking their time with him.

To sign Luiz, Liverpool will need to pay a significant fee after his stellar performances this term.

According to Football Insider sources, Aston Villa will demand £100 million (€116M) to sell Douglas Luiz after the end of the season when the summer transfer window opens.

His performances this season have helped Aston Villa start the New Year in a surprise Premier League title race. While they're not likely to win the league this season, Luiz could help them stay in the conversation long enough to convince clubs he's worth £100M.

Liverpool, who top the table, will be hoping to sign the 25-year-old ahead of the competition to enhance their chances of staying in the title conversation when the 2024/25 season begins.

Very few pundits and journalists predicted that Liverpool would be in the title race much less lead the league table in the New Year but, here we are.

Klopp has consistently worked wonders to exceed expectations and if he can deliver the title this season, his legacy at Anfield will only become more impressive.
