The wages and transfer fee Liverpool must pay to complete signing “immediately”

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Donyell Malen in recent months and now he is available for transfer, per the latest reports.

Borussia Dortmund are ready to let him leave and he was a player Liverpool wanted to sign before his eventual move to the Bundesliga.

This may have put an end to his chances of sealing a coveted move to Anfield but if the Reds were to consider a second swing at signing him, what would the numbers involved look like?

Let's take a look at the latest reports and the expenses involved with a potential transfer to get him involved in Liverpool 2.0.

Liverpool were linked with a move to sign Malen in September 2023. After Dortmund beat them to his signature when he left PSV Eindhoven in 2021, they could return for him.

Reportedly, the German outfit is ready to let him leave after Jadon Sancho joined the club on loan from Manchester United.

“Sancho’s arrival would put a lot of pressure on Donyell Malen. He could be sold immediately,” Christian Falk reports for CaughtOffside.

He continued: “There was an idea of a swap deal with Manchester United for Sancho – they didn’t go for it.

“But if there is an offer coming from the Premier League for Malen, Dortmund will be open to talks.”

With Dortmund ready to let the Dutchman go if a suitable offer arrives, how much would that cost Liverpool and co?

The forward has a contract with the Bundesliga club that only expires on 30 June 2026 so Dortmund would be able to stand their ground in negotiations.

However, his form hasn't exactly been electric since his moved to the Westfalenstadion.

The Daily Mail asserts that he's rated at £52 million but Transfermarkt's €35 million (£30M) valuation would be more accurate.

That could be a decent bargain if Klopp believes he can get the best out of a fallen star.

His wages, in comparison to his goalscoring record, are quite extortionate. He reportedly earns £101,000 per week.

That would put him above the likes of Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz in the Liverpool wage structure which seems unlikely.

All in all, a deal like this would have to be sweetened for Liverpool to take a fancy.
