Liverpool hijacking Bayern Munich talks that are "advancing positively" would be sweet

Liverpool are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong but it would be a very typical transfer move to see them hijack Bayern Munich talks for Nordi Mukiele.

The French fullback is highly likely to move to the Allianz Arena this month after Eric Dier joined the Bavarians.

Talks to sign Mukiele are said to be "advancing positively" but with the 26-year-old able to play anywhere across the back line, he strikes me as the type of player Jurgen Klopp would love.

In a recent post, I took a look at how reported target Goncalo Inacio would elevate Liverpool's 3-box-3 formation and I have a similar suspicion about Mukiele.

Naturally a right back, he can play in central defence as well as on the opposite flank at left back. Joe Gomez is doing a similar job for the Reds this season but is far better in his natural centre back role.

Even better, Mukiele can also play as a right-sided midfielder which would give Liverpool a range of options for mid-game tactical changes.

This is something Klopp does regularly when his tactics are being well countered by his opponent in the technical area.

Mukiele excels in a range of statistical categories but by far his best work is done in the air. I suggest you check out his full scout report from Fbrefs but the stats site's data shows that Mukiele wins 66.7% of his aerial duels - that means only three percent of all fullbacks in Europe are better in the air.

The Premier League is such that defenders need to be good in the air to protect their goalkeeper and Mukiele certainly is.

This isn't a likely transfer for Liverpool to complete. Just one that I would like to see.
