24-year-old Klopp called "might look for a transfer" away from Anfield

After saving three penalties during the 3-2 shootout against Derby County in the League Cup in 2022, Jurgen Klopp called Caoimhin Kelleher "exceptional".

However, the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper may have to leave the club to take the next step in his career.

Alisson Becker is one of the finest goalkeepers in Europe and so long as he's at the club, he will be the undisputed starter.

Transfer guru Dean Jones reports that Kelleher may now start to consider a move away from Anfield to get the game time he needs to continue developing.

He said: “If he doesn’t get a chance properly at Liverpool this season, you do wonder if he might look for a transfer.

“There are certainly loads of clubs that have been sniffing around that situation over the course of this year.”

Kelleher is now 25 years old which is by no means old for a goalkeeper but at the same time, sitting on the bench at Liverpool isn't going to move the needle much for him anymore.

He is more than capable of being a no.1 for a Premier League side as performances in the cup tournaments in recent years proves.

It would be a major loss for Liverpool to lose Kelleher, who is arguably the best backup goalkeeper in England.
