Philippe Coutinho is on Liverpool's radar again and they will try to sign him if they lose one of their key players, according to Mundo Deportivo.

I have always been very fond of Coutinho and while I would love to see him return to Liverpool, the way his career has panned out since leaving, he's no longer the ideal option for Jurgen Klopp.

His exit from Anfield was ugly as he faked back injuries in order to force a move to Barcelona.

He ultimately got his wish, with the Camp Nou giants paying an unprecedented Premier League record fee of £142m to sign him in 2018.

Since he left the club, he has had very little luck with his best moment coming on loan as he moved to Bayern Munich as he won the treble.

During his short spell in Germany, he won the Bundesliga title, the DFB Pokal and the Champions League and he even scored a brace against his parent club.

Mundo Deportivo report that the player's agent is working on his future and Spurs are the main club linked with the Brazilian.

They insist Liverpool are also keen on signing him but add that should Jurgen Klopp lose a key member of his squad, he will consider re-signing the former Red.

The Blaugrana are willing to sell him or are willing to send him on loan but only so long as Liverpool cover his entire wage.

For now, he is 'on their radar.'

At 29, with a shocking injury history, signing Coutinho would be awful business unless it was to replace Xherdan Shaqiri for less than £20m.

His best days are behind him unfortunately but at the end of the day, he chose to leave Liverpool despite a stark warning from Jurgen Klopp.

His value has dropped due to an outer meniscus rupture and I remember all too well how often he would get injured at Liverpool.

While the 'little magician' was gifted with a penchant for the unbelievable, he appeared to be inconsistent but injuries meant any kind of rhythm that he built up was interrupted by regular injuries.

Liverpool have had enough injuries of their own to be concerning themselves with signing another.
