Report from Spain: Liverpool were offered the chance to sign two world class players - and Richarlison

A report from Spain states that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was offered two world-class players as well as Richarlison.

To bolster his attack following the upsetting departure of Liverpool legend Sadio Mane, Jurgen Klopp signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica for £85M and the Uruguayan has had a rocky start to life at Anfield.

He impressed during his cameo against Manchester City in the Community Shield, scoring from the bench to help his new teammates win 3-1.

Liverpool then disappointed in the first game of the season, drawing 2-2 but it was Nunez that ultimately rescued a point from Fulham.

Combining with Salah very well, he scored and assisted to ensure the Reds at least got one point.

In his next game, Nunez showed his fiery Uruguayan nature by headbutting Joachim Andersen, receiving a red card and a three-match ban.

There's no doubting that Nunez is a goal machine but things just aren't clicking for Klopp and his players.

Mohamed Salah has often been far too isolated in his unusually wide position, the midfield has struggled to control games while the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been awful in defence.

According to a report from El Pais (via Sport Witness), Liverpool could have signed three players after they were offered to the Reds but Jurgen Klopp rejected them all in favour of the signings he did make.

In addition to Nunez, Calvin Ramsay and Fabio Carvalho arrived in the early part of the window while Arthur Melo was brought in on deadline day to bolster the midfield ranks.

El Pais claims that Liverpool were offered the chance to sign Robert Lewandowski before his move to Barcelona, Richarlison before his move to Spurs and his new teammate Son Heung-Min.

Son and Lewandowski would have both been incredible signings but signing them would have been financially problematic.

Purely from a wage perspective, both players would have created issues as far as the club's wage structure is concerned.

Overall, it's quite easy to see why none of them were signed.

Lewandowksi is 34 so Liverpool were unlikely to ever sign him even if it would have been fitting to see Mane go one way and Lewa the other.

Spurs were also never going to sell Son to Liverpool after their Luis Diaz humiliation in the January transfer window with chairman Daniel Levy reportedly furious at how he was beaten to the punch.

And Richarlison...

Well, the less said the better.
