How many games will Darwin Nunez miss due to red card? A long ban is possible due to violent conduct

Liverpool's summer signing Darwin Nunez disgraced himself on his home debut by getting sent off against Crystal Palace and now the Reds face three games without him.

Having scored on his Premier League debut against Fulham, the £85M summer signing lost his cool as he headbutted Palace's Joachim Andersen in a shocking moment.

Now Jurgen Klopp faces three games without his centre forward as he also has to contend with up to 10 injuries.

Nunez's moment of madness could cost Liverpool in the next few games as the Merseyside outfit need to get back to winning ways after a stuttering start to the season.

The minimum ban for a straight red card is three games but the FA may decide to issue a longer sentence given the violent nature of the offence.

Nunez will miss games against Manchester United, Bournemouth and Newcastle United but may miss games against Everton, Wolves and Chelsea if it's increased beyond three games.

How Klopp can rotate his side to cope without Nunez

Given their extensive injury list, it could spell trouble for Liverpool given Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino remain sidelined.

There is no direct central forward available which could see Klopp unearth a line-up the likes of which we haven't seen before.

All of this comes ahead of the huge game with Manchester United at Old Trafford next Monday - a game you cannot miss as a football fan.

But with injuries to the frontline - how can Klopp line his team up?

It's likely we will see Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil Van Dijk, Andrew Robertson, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah all start against United.

That leaves two spaces to be filled; however, it isn't quite as simple as that given Liverpool lack of central forward. One guess could see Salah operate in the central role, much like Sadio Mane did last season, and become the focal point in a role which he has played before.

It would mean either one of Harvey Elliot or Fabio Carvalho will start on the right wing - with Elliot or Naby Keita taking the midfield role in the midfield three. Two 19-year-olds starting away at Old Trafford will be exciting but also a touch risky.

However, given United's form, a team including nine first-team starters should be enough to see off what is a team in absolute disarray right now. Expect Elliot and Carvalho to get decent minutes against Erik Ten Hag's United.
