Jurgen Klopp all but confirms £22.5m player won't leave this summer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has all but confirmed that their £22.5M rated midfielder won't be leaving this summer.

Naby Keita has entered the final year of his deal and rumours have been rife around his potential departure from the club.

It is unlikely given the injuries already sustained to Liverpool's midfield this season but it suggests that the former RB Leipzig player's future is uncertain.

The latest reports have revealed a potential midfield overhaul next summer and Keita may or may not be involved.

Latest reports on the Keita and Liverpool's midfield

The latest reports on Keita suggest that Klopp won't be letting him or anyone else leave this summer from midfield.

The player has entered the final year of his deal and the club does run the risk of losing him for free next summer as he can also sign a pre-agreement from January.

Due to contract talks stalling and the player being unhappy, his former club Leipzig have put forth their interest in re-signing their former player.

This will reportedly happen alongside a midfield overhaul - as reported by Ian Doyle at the Liverpool ECHO.

He said: “We know the Reds are going to sign some midfielders next summer as part of an overhaul.”

With fringe, ageing and declining players in midfield - there will be considerable movement next summer. Yesterday's reports also didn't rule out Liverpool moving for Matheus Nunes, who is now officially a Wolves player.

Whereas Keita won't move anywhere this summer unless a big fee comes in (which it won't) then the club will have to look at a new deal for the Guinean or risk losing him for free after paying £52M back in 2018.
