"I don't like Liverpool": Manchester United forward says he almost got sent off in first game at Anfield

Liverpool and Manchester United have been bitter rivals in the history of English football.

Whereas the current landscape sees the Merseyside outfit dominate - United will be hoping the new appointment of Erik Ten Hag will be enough to turn the tide.

Despite the Reds beating United 9-0 on aggregate in the league last year, Marcus Rashford has fired out a warning ahead of the new season.

The Reds face off against United at Old Trafford on the 22nd of August in an early season clash which you will not want to miss.

Rashford calls out Liverpool ahead of the new season

Whilst speaking with Liverpool fan and NBA superstar LeBron James on Uninterrupted, Rashford said that the animosity with the Anfield club feels more intense than it does with City.

"Liverpool. I don't like Liverpool. City. Liverpool have history so it's a bit more bitter. But with City it's like you don't like them, but you don't have a massive reason not to like them.

"You just grow up and it's two Manchester sides, one wears light blue and one wears red. But the rivalry with Liverpool, it feels much more.

"Their fans can take the game away from you. If you let them, they can take it away from you.

"My first game at Anfield, I almost got sent off straight away and I'm not a malicious player - I wouldn't try and hurt someone on purpose."

Rashford has a decent return against his rivals with five goals and one assist in 13 games - but, in that time, he's only been on the winning side twice. No wonder he hates Liverpool!

Last season, their dominance was clear to see in the harrowing 5-0 win at Old Trafford for the Reds.

United have only beaten Liverpool three times since 2016 in the league but have signed Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia as well as appointing former Ajax manager Ten Hag in the hope of stemming the tide.
