Liverpool star photographed as worrying report is released

Andy Robertson has been photographed in a sling as a worrying report is released on the extent of the shoulder injury he sustained in action for Scotland last week.

Fans are understandably worried about the left-back given his importance to Liverpool's new system. Robertson initially struggled to adapt to his new tactical demands but has recently cut an impressive figure on the left side of defence.

The Mirror reveals the above image of the Liverpool defender in conjunction with a report on the severity of his shoulder injury and the tricky position it puts the Reds in.

Latest on Andy Robertson shoulder injury and estimate on return

David Maddock reports for the Mirror that Robertson could be out injured until December "at the earlierst."

The report goes on to state that if surgery is required to repair his shoulder, it would "keep him out for at least 10 weeks."

The worst case scenario could see Robertson ruled out for up to four months but nothing has emerged to suggest the 29-year-old will be ruled out of action for that long.

This is a serious blow to Liverpool, who are still without a defensive midfielder after Fabinho moved to the Saudi Pro League to join Al-Ittihad.

Jurgen Klopp's options to deal with Robertson injury layoff

Jurgen Klopp looks set to be without Robertson for at least up to two months but if he's out for four months, Liverpool may need to consider signing a left-back in the summer. Maybe even on loan.

Kostas Tsimikas will now be an automatic starter and while the Greek is more than capable of providing value in a starting role, he needs to find consistency - something that has often eluded him.

The 27-year-old signed a new contract with Liverpool in September and he now has the perfect opportunity to repay the club's faith for renewing his terms until 2027.

It will be interesting to see if Tsimikas will be able to perform in Liverpool's new system with few minutes under his belt since the switch to Klopp's 3-2-2-3 formation when in possession.

The German is expected to preview his side's Premier League clash with Everton this weekend with a press conference on Friday.

An update on Robertson's injury will likely be provided.

Anfield Central will provide live coverage of the press conference so tune into the site at 12:30PM on Friday.
