Should the 'Greek Scouser' become a regular starter after amazing performance vs Ajax?

Kostas Tsimikas is a fan favourite for his excellent playstyle and hilarious off-field antics, and now fans are starting to believe he deserves a starting spot over Andrew Robertson.

The 'Greek Scouser' stepped in for Robertson after the Scotsman picked up a knee injury in training.

He impressed on his chance today and marked his amazing performance with an assist for Joel Matip's late winner over Ajax. Now, he's averaging an assist every 74 minutes this season and 240minutes throughout his entire Liverpool career.

Tsimikas was an attacking threat throughout the match, creating the most chances in the game (5) and taking one shot. He also completed 74% of his passes and half his dribbles. And, he was just as good defensively.

He completed all of his attempted tackles (2) and an interception to keep Dusan Tadic very quiet.

Before the arrival of Tsimikas in 2020, the thought of a Robertson injury would send panic throughout the fanbase. Now, he has proved himself as a worthy adversary and maybe good enough to take the spot for himself.

This is why fans have been crying out for more midfielders. Squad depth is essential to fighting at a top level, and midfield injuries have already caused Liverpool problems. Without Tsimikas, James Milner would have probably been made into a makeshift left-back.

The timeline of Robertson's injury is still not confirmed but it was reported to be a knee injury. Unfortunately, that doesn't sound particularly good and we could see him out for an extended amount of time. We hope Robertson's injury is not serious, but at least we have an in-form left back to fill in the role.

We could see Kostas Tsimikas back in action in the first team in October when Liverpool face off against Adam Lallana's Brighton in the Premier League after the international break.
