Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool: What senior figures believe

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been in stunning form for England during the recent international break, taking full advantage of a more creative role granted by interim coach Lee Carsley.

Playing the full 180 minutes across victories against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, Alexander-Arnold arguably stood out as England’s most impressive player despite the relatively modest level of opposition.

With 31 caps for his country, many have questioned why the Liverpool star hasn’t consistently been a starter for England.

However, based on his recent performances, that situation could change.

While his future with the national team is a hot topic, another pressing matter is his contract situation at Liverpool. With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Liverpool fans are understandably concerned about the long-term future of one of their most important players.

Liverpool confident of extending Alexander-Arnold’s contract

According to reports from TBR Football, Liverpool’s leadership is optimistic about securing a new deal for Alexander-Arnold. A five-year contract, rumoured to be worth over £300,000 per week, is said to be on the table.

If agreed upon, this deal would make him one of the highest-paid players at the club, on par with Mohamed Salah, and the highest-earning English player in the Premier League.

Despite his contract expiring soon, Alexander-Arnold is reportedly enjoying his time under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, which has given the club confidence that he will renew his contract before being free to negotiate with other clubs in January.

Why the delay in Alexander-Arnold contract talks?

One reason for the delay in contract negotiations is that Alexander-Arnold wanted to experience life under Slot before committing to a new long-term deal.

Now that he’s had time to adjust to Slot’s methods, his enthusiasm for the future seems to have grown, raising hopes within the club that he will soon sign a new contract.

Alongside their efforts to secure Alexander-Arnold’s future, Liverpool are also working on extensions for key players like Luis Diaz, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah.

However, Alexander-Arnold’s situation is seen as the top priority given his importance to the team.

With the right manager in place and the defender back to his best, Liverpool are keen to lock in a deal that will ensure Alexander-Arnold remains at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
