Gary Neville blown away by how much Liverpool player knows about football history

Gary Neville has shared his surprise at Trent Alexander-Arnold’s profound football knowledge during a recent interview.

On the Stick to Football podcast, Neville reflected on their conversation from last season, describing it as a moment of genuine astonishment.

Neville revealed: “I spent two or three hours interviewing Alexander-Arnold, and I was completely stunned.”

He continued: “I was mesmerised by how deeply he understood football’s history over the past 20 to 25 years. Despite my previous criticisms of his defensive skills and his role in midfield, his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game were truly impressive.”

The right-back has featured prominently in all three of Liverpool’s league matches this season, contributing to their perfect start while keeping a clean sheet. However, Slot’s tendency to substitute him with around 20 minutes remaining has not gone unnoticed by Alexander-Arnold.#

As Alexander-Arnold’s contract nears its end, speculation about his future at Anfield continues. Rumours of interest from Real Madrid have emerged, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his stay. Former Manchester

United midfielder Paul Scholes has expressed doubts about Slot’s true feelings for Alexander-Arnold. Scholes noted Slot’s visible frustration during a recent match, observing, “Every time Alexander-Arnold gave the ball away, Slot seemed to shake his head and look away.

Liverpool have a truly generational player in Trent and at the moment, it appears as though many external voices are commenting on his future and what he should be doing.

Suggestions that he’s acting out are wide of the mark in my opinion. The Scouser has always behaved this way and it’s just getting attention now because his contract is up for renewal.
