Trent Alexander-Arnold agrees to Real Madrid move

Liverpool have now accepted their fate when it comes to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The club has been pushing to resolve contract issues behind the scenes since the season began. As of this week, none of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk have decided their future. Liverpool will continue to push till the last few weeks of their contracts. All three could depart at the end of the season.

This may be part of the reason why the club are eyeing a rebuild later this summer. Arne Slot only had two permanent additions to the first team this season. Liverpool signed Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili. Slot had to manage with the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

Despite all this, the former Feyenoord boss managed to challenge on all fronts, and only fell short just over a week ago.

In the space of one week, Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League and lost out in the League Cup final. The reds’ squad depth has been really put to the test over the past few weeks. It has now become clear what the team need to do in the summer window. Liverpool losing out on winning the treble could also be the reason why Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk leave at the end of the season.

Multiple reports have emerged over the past 24 hours concerning Trent. And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed what has been an open secret over the past few days. Real Madrid and Trent Alexander-Arnold have agreed to a deal, and the defender will move to the Champions League holders in the summer.

Sacha Tavolieri also reported that the 26-year old put pen to paper on a five year deal with the Spanish giants. Trent is currently out of action due to injury, and is reportedly set to return some time in April.

Liverpool are to be blamed

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure comes after years of bad management by the club. Liverpool have not been competitive enough over the past few seasons. The reds continue to miss out on prime transfer targets because they are unwilling to pay huge fees. In today’s Premier League, that is a costly mistake. Over the past few seasons, Liverpool’s rivals have improved their squad, while the reds persist with their current players. The club need to shoulder the blame for the loss of an excellent homegrown talent.
