"Then it happened." Jurgen Klopp confirms Liverpool have agreed Moises Caicedo deal

Jurgen Klopps has confirmed that Liverpool have agreed a fee with Brighton for the transfer of Moises Caicedo.

The German spoke to the press this morning and confirmed reports that broke in the early hours of the morning claiming Liverpool have agreed a world record bid for Moises Caicedo are accurate.

Klopp said: “I got told I can confirm the Moisés Caicedo deal is agreed with the club.

“With the player, we will have to see. Medical today? I can’t tell you, I don’t know.

“We give it a go and the club have really stretched it to be honest”.

Brighton set a deadline for bids to be submitted last night and an auction between Liverpool and Chelsea was triggered.

A £100 million offer was submitted by Chelsea but outbid by Liverpool's £111 million offer - a new Premier League record.

Bayern Munich also bid but were only prepared to go as high as £90 million with their finances likely stretched as they are committing to pay Tottenham £86.4 million (€100m) for Harry Kane.

According to Sky Sports, Brighton negotiated to included an unspecified sell-on clause as well which may have been a major sticking point for Chelsea after their pursuit of Caicedo stretched months.

What's the latest on Moises Caicedo to Liverpool?

Liverpool have scheduled a medical for later today with their rapid-fire move to sign the 21-year-old not slowing down.

The Premier League starts on Sunday and the club is now showing the ambition and urgency fans were so worried they might not see in time to overhaul Liverpool's midfield.

That doubt has surely been put to bed by now. Not only have Liverpool signed an incredible player they have done so by sending a massive statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League.

A midfield of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Moise Caicedo is one rivals need to be very wary of. If Klopp's tactics pay off, this team will be one of the best attacking units in the world.

Caicedo is tailormade for Liverpool's midfield

Last season Liverpool really lacked a midfielder that could win everything that came into his zone.

Fabinho looked slow and reactive, Jordan Henderson was not at the races at all and generally, Klopp lacked the numbers needed to sustain a push for the top four.

Injuries played a part too but now the squad depth is looking far safer and they now also have incredible raw talent in the middle of the park.

Caicedo is a truly special player and he now has the talent around him to go to an even more impressive level.
